Paul Frommer

Creator of Na'vi, Barsoomian, and more!

Paul Frommer is a conlanger, professor, and linguist. Paul created the Na'vi language for the 2009 movie Avatar, and continued to work with the Na'vi language in the sequel Avatar: The Way of Water. He also created the Barsoomian language for the Disney film John Carter. As a linguist, he studied under famous typologist Bernard Comrie, and did his major research project on Farsi in Iran. He was a professor of business at the USC Marshall School of Business for many years before turning his attention to his work with Na'vi and other conlangs. He plays an active role in the vibrant and growing Na'vi language community.
